The Color-Blind Detective
C.B. Green is a private investigator; he is color-blind; he wears an at times too-white hat; he is a throwback to a previous era of hard-boiled detectives and frails and bad guys in black hats; he is not a metrosexual 90’s guy . . .but if you turn up at room temperature one day, you should hope C.B. Green is the shadow dogging your killer! ColorMeDead is the website of C.B. Green, the color-blind detective. From this site you can read previously published short stories about C.B. Green, and purchase books from the Color-Blind Detective series. There are three other short stories, Puzzle Me, Call Waiting, and The Girl Who Stole Time [a kid fantasy published ten years ago in Grit Magazine]. July’s new short story is ‘Death of the 3rd Person’ [access the story directly by clicking: here]. It is the story of Bob Bobbins, a man living in a 1st person present and a 3rd person past. In his head, Bob only has the now. That’s not to say Bob doesn’t have memories, because he does, but his brain says Bob-him, not Bob-me; and Bob-him is someone he knows completely, but not intimately. I can ask Bob how he feels, right then, and get a straight answer, but I can’t ask him how he felt the day before, because he doesn’t know; because now-Bob doesn’t have a yesterday. Right! It confuses me too.
